Welcome to the Maze of Words
Being an Entertaining Passtime for the Exploratory Mind, based partly upon the Early Games of Infocom (whom see), and also Reflecting the Mazes that Man hath Created for himself since the Days of the Ancients, and those Reflected in the Works of God and Nature. Enter Below, all Ye who dare, and Lose yourselves Herein.

the door in the hedge

Garden: 80 locations
Labyrinth (lower level): 70 locations
Tower: Not yet operational

A Word about Goals:

There is no "finish" in the conventional sense of the word. Feel free to wander at your leisure. If you find it necessary for your enjoyment to reach a goal, here are some possible objectives:

reach the tower at the center of the garden
locate each of the nine dead-end squares (garden level)
die
locate all the links in the shortcuts below
map the maze in its entirety
keep score on how many quotes you recognize from descriptions and title bars...
kill the minotaur
(caveat: not all of these are currently possible, but try back later...)

*Note: Sometimes there is news. Often there is not. I do update this thing sometimes, although often it's just storage space for pictures that show up in other places. If you want me to update something in particular-- send me a note to say so! Otherwise I may never get around to it. Latest official update: Nanonanonano! see winner's icon below! 10/28/07: NaNo season... Who's writing? 7/3/07: There's some other stuff on the art page. And a couple stealth updates in various places... 2/11/07: blackwork embroidery-- more art, this time not digital. 2/4/07: tarot cards a few of them, anyway.

Recommendations for the non-adventurous:

Thistlesalad: a daily dose of surreality, with dizzying comics & pretty pictures.

Etsy is cool! Go buy something handmade!

Bygone Arts: calligraphy and midieval crafts made by friends of mine. Great stuff (from custom texts to chain mail & bath salts) reasonably priced.

The Mad Mechanicals: a madcap group of performers I once narrowly escaped joining. If you get the chance, go see some of their shows!

The Labyrinth Project: a more functional maze

Tam Lin pages: the official website for the ballad of Tam Lin.

make-your-own Labyrinth: in case you need a meditational labyrinth for your neighborhood park or front garden (these are single-path labyrinths, not mazes as such)

The Fool's Errand: my favorite computer game ever.
