The white scarf is the highest level fencing award of the SCA Kingdom of Atlantia. It consists of a white scarf, with a blue line down the middle, and Spike (the horned sea-horse mascot of the kingdom) on one or both ends. This particular scarf was presented to Lord Melchior zum grauen Wolf on his eleveation to the rank of Provost of the Academie d'Espee on February 10th, 2007 at the Tourney of Ymir.

Reversible blackwork embroidery with two colors of blue silk floss on white handkercheif linen. The central stripe is in a border pattern of blue roses, modified from a design in Paula Kate Marmor's Blackwork Embroidery Archives ("a row of roses") The seahorses are outlined in a double strand of silk, and broken into sections embroidered in a variety of traditional English filling patterns from the books by Lynn Skinner. I specifically used patterns that were easily reversible without a great deal of changing thread, as I wanted the scarf to look good from either side. The eyes of the sea horses are pattern darned in Lord Melchior's badge.
