This card replaces "The Hanged Man" in the standard Tarot deck.

The thief is someone outside of the standard structure of things, a person on the edge whose life and work are probably not beneficial to others. Terribly cool in some ways (skilled, and to whom certain things come easily, because, well, of not following the paths other people have to take to get things) but not necessarily someone you wish to keep too close to you. And, well, I couldn't help the allusion to the non-tarot style of hanged man.
