Though it is not immediately apparent in this picture, there is in fact a drainage pipe of about one and a half feet in diameter going under the driveway. Usually it is more than enough to accomodate the pathetic trickle of stream that dries up for much of the time. |
In the distance you can see the gravel section of the road, which washes down onto the driveway, leaving impressive fissures which make driving somewhat interesting... | ![]() |

The downstream view... this eventually pours into an actual storm drain of the 3-foot-diameter sort below the next road over, and ends up in a pond full of geese in the middle of a golf course. (Once, when I was young and got yelled at for doing so, I climbed all the way through to see this. I'm not sure if it was worth it or not-- climbing through a block of 3' drain is pretty uncomfortable...) |
For some reason, the local ant colony prefered hanging out in the mailbox to drowning under the flood waters... This does make it somewhat difficult to bring in the mail, however. | ![]() |
